Meal prices increase five cents

Meal prices increase five cents
Tuesday the school board approved a five cent increase for school meals. The district will subsidize $2,362 to the Nutrition Services program to minimize the increase for families. School board president Anne Golden said it is always a difficult decision to raise meal prices since it impacts the finances of district families.

She said the board’s action limited the pinch on families while still meeting legal requirements.

The action was taken at the recommendation of Nutrition Services Director Pamela Milleson to meet federal requirements as they pertain to the district’s free or reduced-price meal program.
