Wa-Hi Science teacher reports lab spaces are too small

Walla Walla High School Science teacher Terry Carlsen reports his lab is too small to meet today's curriculum requirements. The April 22 bond proposal would feature 1500 sq. ft. classrooms with fully functional labs. These new classrooms/labs are 500 sq. ft. larger on average than the current classrooms. Currently, several Wa-Hi science teachers are teaching in general purpose classrooms with no lab features.

“My lab is only 600 sq. ft. with approximately 350 sq. ft. available for students to move about. The national standards for science labs call for five times that size for a class of 30 students.”
