Superintendent Condemns Wa-Hi Spirit Rock Comment

This afternoon I learned that our Wa-Hi spirit rock, recently painted in celebration of our Cinco De Mayo Festival, was vandalized around 2am this morning with an inappropriate comment surrounding immigration. This type of vandalism does not stand for who we are as a district, our beliefs around inclusion, and our ongoing efforts supporting tolerance and belonging for all. We have already covered the comment and are fully cooperating with Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office to investigate this matter.

We are unsure at this time if this was perpetrated by a student of Walla Walla Schools. Regardless, it occurred on our campus, will not be tolerated, and we vehemently denounce this action. Anyone who has information is encouraged to contact the WW County Sheriff's office 509-527-3265, the school district 509-527-3000, or via our anonymous Safe Schools Program at 855-976-8772.
