School board appoints new member to Board of Directors

WALLA WALLA, Tuesday, August 27 – Today during a special school board meeting, the Walla Walla Public Schools Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint Dr. David Hampson to serve the remainder of Max Carrera’s term. Carrera resigned from the school board August 1, 2013.

Hampson will be officially sworn in during the Tuesday, Sept. 3 regularly scheduled school board meeting. He will stand for election in November 2015.

Hampson is a physician at the Urgent Care Clinic, Providence St. Mary Medical Center. He and his wife Theresa have two grown children and one who will be a senior at Walla Walla High School this school year. He has been active as a leader in youth activities and as a school volunteer since moving to the community in 1990. He said most of his spare time over the past two decades has been dedicated to his family and youth in the community.

“My hope and desire is to make a positive impact on the school board,” Hampson said. “I want this to carry over and have a positive impact on the district, the kids and our community.”
