New Volleyball Coach

Walla Walla High School volleyball star returns to alma mater to lead volleyball program

As a student at Garrison Middle School, Lindsey (Mahan) Schantz developed a love for volleyball. This passion continued at Walla Walla High School where Lindsey, a Class of 2004 graduate, played all four years, including leading her team to state her junior year. Lindsey’s high school success paved the way for her to earn a volleyball scholarship at San Diego State University where she was a four-year starter as a middle blocker.

This summer Lindsey accepted the Head Volleyball Coaching position at Walla Walla High School where she is eager to contribute to the school’s esteemed program.

“Returning to my alma mater and a place I previously coached (varsity assistant coach from 2008-2011) is a full circle moment for me,” said Lindsey. “I want to see volleyball continue to be a desirable sport for young girls in the valley.”

Lindsey coached two volleyball clubs in California from 2012-2017. She has experience developing comprehensive training programs that improve players’ skills, fitness and game strategy.

“Throughout my club coaching opportunities in southern California, I emphasized the holistic development of athletes by spending time on skill development, team chemistry and work ethic, which lead us to winning seasons,” she said. “My coaching philosophy centers on developing well-rounded athletes who excel both on and off the court.”
