Golden retires following 28 years of school board service
School board member Anne Golden participated in her final school board meeting Tuesday night after 28 years of service. Community members and staff thanked Golden during a public reception following the school board meeting. School board members also unanimously approved a resolution to permanently name the boardroom the “Anne Golden Boardroom.” Below is the resolution in its entirety.

Resolution #10-2015: Naming of Facility - Anne Golden Boardroom
WHEREAS, Mrs. Anne Golden has served as a Walla Walla School District board member from 1987-2015, including eight terms as board president; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Golden, during her career on the Walla Walla School District Board of Directors, has provided leadership through serving as Legislative Representative and participating on the following committees: Curriculum Advisory & Instructional Materials, PSE Negotiations, Certificated Negotiations, District Calendar, and Safe Schools; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Golden has represented the Pacific Northwest Region as a board member of the National School Boards Association; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Golden served on the board for Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA), including as Vice President, President-Elect, and President, and on many WSSDA committees including: Education Program, Legislative Committee Member & Chair, Task Force Chair – Weighted Vote, Task Force Chair – Student Achievement, and Special Education Advisory Council. She was also appointed by the Governor to the K-12 Advisory Council, part of Washington Learns/legislative approved study of education finance; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Golden has provided school board trainings to numerous school boards across the state of Washington, presented at WSSDA conferences, state and region workshops, is a graduate of the Texas School Board Association Leadership Program and helped renew WSSDA’s leadership program; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Golden has served her local community of Walla Walla through many community and philanthropic activities such as: American Heart Association (local & national) including national board chair, and CPR and AED instructor for over 20 years, Camp Fire (local & national), YWCA (local & national), United Way board president and campaign chair, and local school PTAs. She has also served as board member of Children’s Home Society, YMCA, Red Cross, Assumption Church Parish Council, Walla Walla Community College Foundation Board, Walla Walla General Hospital Advisory Board, Governor appointment to Council on Volunteerism & Citizen Service, and Governor appointment to Correctional Industry Board, including 5 years as Chair.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that in recognition and honor of Mrs. Golden’s many years of service and leadership, the Board of Directors of Walla Walla School District #140 hereby declares the Walla Walla School District Administration Boardroom be named the Anne Golden Boardroom.
