Watson receives regional leadership award for supporting local schools

Walla Walla Public Schools Foundation Executive Director Elsa Watson recently received the Southeast Washington Association of School Administrators (SEWASA) Leadership Award at the SEWASA annual banquet in Richland.

Elsa Watson has worked in nonprofits all of her adult life. She has been the Executive Director of the Walla Walla Public Schools Foundation since its inception in 2022. Elsa says being part of the Walla Walla Schools Foundation is the most rewarding professional position she has been part of. She values the support from the district and experiences joy finding funding for field trips for all Walla Walla students.

Elsa also played a key role in the district’s successful February 13 levies. She volunteered to serve as the Marketing Coordinator for Citizens for Schools Walla Walla. In her volunteer role, she organized the citizen’s yard sign campaign, placed radio and newspaper ads and coordinated social media and public outreach efforts. Elsa says the approval from voters makes her happy to see the community’s strong support of their local schools.

Elsa is also an accomplished and published author. She writes historical fiction, mainly, and tries to write about a book a year. She had her first book published in 2004.

Special thanks to Elsa Watson for helping the district realize its Vision of Developing Washington’s Most Sought-After Graduates.
