Police called to schools

School incidents at Green Park and Prospect Point prompt police presence

Police were called to Green Park Elementary earlier today after the school was put in lockdown due to an altercation between two students on the playground. The lockdown lasted only a minute or two before the situation was resolved. No one was hurt and the school quickly returned to normal. Principal Yonts is working with families of those involved and is notifying all parents.

In a separate incident, police were called to Prospect Point this afternoon after a student was found to have brought a knife on campus. When Principal Chandler attempted to confiscate the knife, the student made an aggressive move toward her. Per district protocol, the police responded quickly and detained the student. No one was injured and the student was taken into custody. Police are conducting an investigation and parents are being notified. School has returned to normal and will dismiss as usual.
