Traffic Safety Program Gears Up

WWPS partners with local businesses as they bring back high demand program
Local businessman and Walla Walla High School graduate John Sasser recently installed Student Driver signage on three locally leased Traffic Safety Education vehicles. Walla Walla Public Schools appreciates Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Walla Walla for its support outfitting these leased vehicles for the program to meet Washington State Patrol inspection standards.

The Traffic Safety Program at Wa-Hi returned this semester, two decades after the program's funding came to an abrupt stop from the State of Washington. WWPS is using levy funds to ensure there is no cost to enroll in the program for active students of the district or private/homeschool students residing within school district boundaries. Students will receive classroom and in-car driving instruction beginning in April.

The program is in high demand and is already full for this spring. The district will offer classes this summer and more seats will be available next fall.

The district also added a financial literacy component to the class following input from parents and the community.
