District honors Graduates of Distinction

Monday evening Walla Walla Public Schools honored Norm Passmore – Class of 1972; Mary Vixie Sandy – Class of 1978; Steve Bughi – Class of 1978 and Tera Watts Davis – Class of 1998 as this year’s Graduates of Distinction. Superintendent Dr. Wade Smith served as Master of Ceremonies for this annual event.

“This is the highest honor bestowed by the district,” said Superintendent Smith. “These individuals have distinguished themselves in their communities and careers, and they continue to bring honor to the district.”

Norm Passmore is a skilled dentist with more than three decades of compassionate service in the Walla Walla and Dayton communities. He named Wa-Hi Biology Teacher Ron Huntington his most inspirational staff member. Mary Vixie Sandy is a pioneer in education supporting the development and accreditation of tomorrow’s teachers. She named Wa-Hi teachers Ken Rhodes and Richard Poole her most inspirational staff members. Steve Bughi is a lifelong farmer and advocate for agricultural education in the Walla Walla Valley. He named Vocational education teachers Charles Clark and James McKay his most inspirational staff members. Tera Watts Davis is a mortgage specialist with a heart for empowering people to maximize their potential and lift the spirits of others. She named Wa-Hi teacher Michael Locati her most inspirational staff member.
