Blue Devil Athletics Fall Sports 2023 Update – By Athletic Director Chris Ferenz

Regular season Mid-Columbia Conference contests end this week when volleyball visits Kennewick HS on Tuesday, October 24th and football travels to Chiawana High School on Friday, October 27th.

With an early State Tournament, the Blue Devil slow-pitch softball team began their playoffs last week. A 14-0 win (Monday, October 16th) vs Shadle Park was followed by a 9-5 loss to University High School (Wednesday, October 18th) sent the Lady Blue Devils to Mt. Spokane/Mead on Friday, October 20th in the consolation bracket. The Blue Devils defeated Ferris 12-0 and Ridgeline 14-6 to earn the 3rd seed from District 8 to the State Tournament in Yakima. The team will open the 8-team, double elimination championship tournament, Friday, October 27th at 10:00 am vs. Juanita High School at Gateway Complex in Yakima, WA. Cross Country finished up their MCC schedule with league championship races at Leslie Grove Park in Richland, WA. The girls and boys Blue Devil harriers head to Spokane to run at Wandermere Golf Course on Saturday, October 28th. The girls will race at 2:00 pm, followed by the boys at 2:30 p.m.

The Blue Devil girls soccer team will begin their District 8 Tournament on Tuesday, October 24th @ 3:30 pm on the campus of WWHS. After finishing the MCC campaign 7-9 overall and earning the #2 seed amongst 3A teams, the Devs will face Mount Spokane HS - SOCCER BRACKET

Our Blue Devil volleyball team, after beating Richland on Saturday, travesl to Kennewick on Tuesday, October 24th to wrap up their regular season. Sitting at 8-7 in the MCC (9-7 overall), the ladies have wrapped up the second seed in the 3A division and earned the right to host an opening round game in the District 8 tournament. The playoffs will begin at WWHS on Tuesday, October 31st vs. the GSL #3. Game time will be determined later. You can find the tournament bracket on the MCC website: 2023 3A Volleyball Bracket 

On October 21st, the Blue Devil girls swim team traveled to Prout Pool in Richland, WA for the MCC championships. Finishing 4th out of 9 schools, the Blue Devils qualified all fifteen swimmers for the District 4/8 championship at Whitman College's Harvey Pool this coming Friday (27th) and Saturday (28th). Prelims are at 10:00 am on Friday, followed by finals at 10:00 am on Saturday. Tickets may be purchased here SWIM TICKETS 

Football has received their week-10 crossover schedule and will finish the season at Cheney HS on Thursday, November 2nd at 6:00 pm.

A reminder that all District 8 tournaments have an entry fee for all contests. The cost for admittance is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors (65+) and school age children. WWPS admits WWHS students with ID free entrance to all district events.
