Historic Bledsoe Sign finds New Home

Historic Bledsoe sign finds new home at Wa-Hi

The Walla Walla High School gym has a new feature with the addition of the historic redwood school sign created by Mac Bledsoe four decades ago. Last weekend the sign was permanently mounted in the new entrance to the main gym where it will remain for everyone to enjoy.

The sign dates back to 1983 when former Class President Scott Krivoshein approached teacher and coach Mac Bledsoe to build the 12’wide by 6’ tall sign as a senior project. Mr. Bledsoe took on the project and the rest is history. The magnificent sign was a fixture of the campus on the corner of Fern Ave and Abbott Road for nearly 40 years.

Wa-Hi Class 2021 graduate, and Eagle Boy Scout, Michael Cornia completely refurbished the sign in 2018 as a scouting project. During the recent bond construction project, the sign’s original location made way for the school’s expanded school bus lane.

Now the sign has a new home and its legacy will live on as an important chapter of Blue Devil history.
