Wa-Hi Athletics Postseason Update, May 16, 2024 – By Wa-Hi Athletics Director Chris Ferenz

Walla Walla Blue Devil athletic teams have concluded their Mid-Columbia Conference regular seasons as well as culminating league championship events. The Blue Devil boys tennis team and girls track and field team both earned MCC 3A championships last weekend in the Tri-Cities. For the boys tennis team, it was its third consecutive MCC 3A Championship, while the girls track team won their 5th consecutive MCC Championship which is a tremendous accomplishment.

Boys tennis heads to Spokane this weekend, May 17th and 18th, for the District 8 Tournament. Senior Ken Higgins won the MCC 3A boys singles title to earn a number one seed in the District 8 Tournament as he looks to earn another berth to the state tournament. Freshman Micah Eggart and senior Robert Horton teamed up in doubles to also advance to this weekend's tournament. On the girls side, Keegan Isenhower and Kaitlyn Flinders teamed up to advance to the doubles bracket.

Boys golf sends 6 golfers to the Spokane Valley to compete against the Greater Spokane League in an attempt to earn spots to the state golf tournament in Olympia. As of this morning, three golfers are in the hunt.

As a result of winning the MCC Track and Field Championship, the girls team has 23 athletes headed to Central Valley High School of Spokane for the District 8 Championship meet. Along the way, the girls 4x100 team set a school record while becoming the season's fastest team in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Arizona and Oregon. Junior Lillian White set a school record in the shot put, becoming the first Blue Devil to ever best 40-feet. For the boys, 17 athletes are headed to Spokane, led by Ian Calhoon who set a school record in the 110m hurdles last Friday. You can follow the track action starting on Friday at 3:00 pm on Athletic.net - https://live.athletic.net/meets/34979

Good luck to all our teams as they travel to earn berths in the WIAA Spring Sport championships.
