Spring Blue Devil athletes saw seniors recognized by the Athletic Department and our spring MCC teams honored by the league coaches.

Senior Athletic Department Awards
The 12 Season Award was introduced in 1999 and it recognizes those athletes who actively participate in 3 sports a year for 4 years. This year there are 3 seniors who have achieved the 12 Season Award:
• Analia Avalos McBain: Volleyball, Bowling, and Track
• Stella Billingsley: Cross Country, Basketball, and Track
• Carter O’Dell: Football, Wrestling, and Baseball

The Lehnen Trophy is presented to the Senior Girl who has participated in the athletic program and has been outstanding in sportsmanship, school citizenship, and the spirit in which she trains. It is voted upon by the head coaches of all girls’ sports.
• This year’s winner is Ashlyn Nielsen. Ashlyn is a 4 year Varsity athlete on the Track and Field team. A key part of the first Wa-Hi girls Track and Field State Championship Team, she placed first in State in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x200m relay, and also received 1st Team All-MCC honors in each event. She was named the 2024 MCC Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Her Junior year, she placed 7th in State in the 100m dash, 3rd in the 4x200m relay, and 4th in the 4x100m relay. She holds the Wa-Hi record in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x200m relay, and will be attending Central Washington University this fall on a track scholarship.

The Brown Trophy is presented to the Senior Boy who has participated in the athletic program and has been outstanding in sportsmanship, school citizenship, and the spirit in which he trains. It is voted on by the head coaches of all boys’ sports.
• This year’s winner is Carter O’ Dell. A 12-season athlete, Carter participated in football, wrestling, and baseball. In wrestling, he was a 4 year Varsity letter winner and 3 time State qualifier–the first to do so from Wa-Hi since 1991. He holds the Wa-Hi record for Most Career Wins (117), and is 2nd in single season wins (44). This year he placed 4th at State in the 157 lb category and was named 1st Team All-MCC. He is a two time MCC District Wrestling Champion, as well as the 2024 Regional Champion. In football, he was a 4 year scholar athlete, spending 3 years on Varsity. He holds the MCC record for most tackles (70), and his senior year was named 2nd Team All-MCC linebacker, and Honorable Mention running back. He also played baseball all 4 years, was a 3 time scholar athlete, and 2 year starter on the team. He will be attending North Idaho College this fall.

The Lawrence Jacky Award is presented to the senior who has contributed to the development of athletics at Wa-Hi while showing outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship in ALL phases of school life. Selection is made by a vote of all faculty at Walla Walla High School.
• This year’s winner, Cami Martin, was a 4 year participant in track, and was also a key part of the first Wa-Hi girls Track and Field State Championship Team, winning 1st place in the 4x100m relay, 4x200 relay, 2nd in the Triple Jump, and 7th in the long jump. She earned 1st team All-MCC honors in the long jump, 4x100m relay, 4x200m relay, and 2nd team honors in the triple jump. Her junior year she finished 4th in State in the 4x100m relay, 3rd in the 4x200m relay, and 8th in the triple jump. In basketball, she was a 3 year starter, and earned All-MCC Honorable Mention honors in 2023, as well as making the MCC All-Academic team in 2022 and 2024. This year, she was named team captain and was awarded the Varsity Blue Devil Award by her peers. She is a member of the National Honor Society, serves as Secretary of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and has volunteered at numerous youth basketball and track events, youth camps, and kept score at AAU tournaments. She will be attending and continuing her track and field career at Concordia University - Irvine this fall.

Congratulations to our senior athletes for their dedication, teamwork, selflessness and leadership the past four years while on the court, in the field, on the track, and on the mat. They are shining examples of the excellence that is Blue Devil athletics.
