Wa-Hi girls track athletes earn All-American status

Congratulations to Walla Walla High School Track & Field athletes Adi Andrews, Cami Martin, Jailyn Davenport, Ashlyn Nielsen and Carly Martin for being named 1st Team All-Americans. These Wa-Hi student-athletes kept practicing for two additional weeks following state and competed in the Outdoor National Championships last weekend in Eugene, Oregon at Historic Hayward field, on the University of Oregon campus.

The 4x100m Relay team of Adi Andrews, Cami Martin, Jailyn Davenport, Ashlyn Nielsen placed 3rd overall. This team qualified for the Nike Outdoor National Championships after winning the state championship in the 4x100 meter relay in a school record time of 47.08.

The 4x200m Relay team of Carly Martin, Cami Martin, Jailyn Davenport and Ashlyn Nielsen placed 5th overall.

“Both relays were also State Champions and set new school records,” said Wa-Hi Track and Field coach Eric Hisaw. “Only four schools in the history of Washington state have run faster than the 4x100 record of 47.08 seconds -- which is the 15th best time in the history of the state. Only 9 schools have run faster than the 4x200 record of 1:40.84 and it’s the 17th best time in the history of the state.”
