Message from Superintendent Miller on today's two-hour delay as a result of the wind storm

Tuesday, Dec. 14

WWPS Parents, Students and Staff:

This morning, following a wind storm last evening, there was a power outage in Walla Walla that impacted a number of our schools.  Power went out approximately 4:50 a.m..  With our bus schedule and with Wa-Hi starting at 7:30, I was concerned about starting school and not knowing if we would have power.

Staff at Pacific Power and Light told me what they knew and gave me an estimated time when the power could be on, but they said it could be earlier.  At 6:00 a.m. I decided to do a two hour delay.

At 6:37 a.m., the power came on throughout the District.  I really appreciate all the efforts of Pacific Power and Light for their efforts getting us back on line.

I also apologize to our parents, students and staff for the inconvenience caused by my decision to delay school by two hours.

If you have questions or comments regarding school closures, delays or any other school issue, please do not hesitate to contact me at mmiller@wwps.org or 526-6714.

Thank you,

Mick Miller, Superintendent
