Pioneer Middle School principal takes position in Longview

Today Pioneer Middle School Principal Dana Jones accepted the Executive Director of Leadership and Learning position for the Longview School District in Longview, WA.

Jones will supervise and develop principals in her new role. Learn more about the Longview School District online at: www.longviewk12.wa.us. Jones was hired as principal of Pioneer Middle School on June 23, 2004.

"We will miss Dana in Walla Walla, but we are thrilled for her opportunity to grow professionally," Superintendent Mick Miller said. "This is a great step in her career."

Career Highlights:

• Principal, Pioneer Middle School (Walla Walla Public Schools)
• Principal, Blue Heron Middle School (Port Townsend, WA.)
• Project Coordinator for Paraprofessional Programs in Ventura County
• Classroom teacher in various school districts from 1991 to 2001

Jones is in the final stages of the Doctorate in Education program at Washington State University and expects to receive her credentials later this month. She holds Washington State Superintendent and Principal Certificates. She earned her Masters Degree from California State University Northridge and completed her undergraduate studies at Washington State University. Jones also holds a Cross Cultural, Language and Academic Development Certificate (CLAD).

Jones is a member of the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP) and National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

The district will now begin the process of selecting a new principal at Pioneer Middle School.
