Alternative Programs principal resigns to pursue other interests

Thursday during a special school board meeting board members accepted the resignation of Alternative Programs Principal Jeff Weeks. The resignation is effective at the end of the 2006-07 school year. Weeks has spent nine years serving as an administrator in the district.

Weeks was an Assistant Principal at Pioneer Middle School for two years, an Assistant Principal at Walla Walla High School for two years, and is in his fifth year as principal of the district's alternative programs. Weeks says he wants to finalize his Doctoral Program studies through Washington State University and pursue a superintendent position.

I just wanted to let you know that I have had great experiences and enjoyed working for Walla Walla Public Schools the past nine years, Weeks said. I am at the conclusion of completing my doctorate in education this spring. The completion of this degree is opening many educational opportunities that I wish to pursue. I feel that it is important to give the district ample opportunity to find a replacement for the coming school year.
