Grandmother's Roundtable meets with district officials to talk schools
This week School Board President Mary Jo Geidl, Superintendent Rich Carter and Communications Director Mark Higgins met with members of the Grandmother's Roundtable to discuss school issues.

The 90 minute discussion was held at Pat Yenney's house. Superintendent Carter says he enjoys meeting with members of the Grandmother's Roundtable and values their involvement in the community.

Many topics were discussed, including:
- State budget funding shortfalls
- New Superintendent Randy Dorn's plans to eliminate the WASL
- Support programs for struggling students
- Gang influence in schools/Safe Schools program
- Sexual education offerings in schools
- Boundary revisions
- Edison Elementary construction project
- Afterschool learning opportunities
- Professional development for teachers and curriculum offerings

Superintendent Rich Carter is also scheduled to participate in a Grandmother's Roundtable panel discussion on education related issues March 23 at Walla Walla Community College. More details will be coming out soon.
