Payne and Krivoshein receive community leadership awards for their volunteer work in schools
Thursday night Fort Walla Walla Museum Director James Payne and Investment Consultant Scott Krivoshein were each presented Community Leadership awards from Superintendent Rich Carter during the Southeast Washington Association of School Administrators Annual Awards Banquet.

Carter said Payne seeks out ways to connect district children to the Fort Walla Walla Museum. He provides passes to kids in need, organizes class field trip opportunities and includes staff and students in museum special events and functions.

"James always puts others ahead of himself," Carter said. Carter said Payne served as a member of district's recent Boundary Review Committee and High School Facilities Task Force. He is also an active classroom volunteer and has been very active in the PTA, including serving as past president of the Green Park PTA and on numerous committees.

Krivoshein's roots in Walla Walla run deep. His school years were spent in the Walla Walla Public Schools' system. He was an outstanding student-athlete during his high school years.

His Class of 1983 football and basketball teams are still considered to be among the best of all time. Krivoshein is the president of the Big Blue Boosters. This organization donates approximately $14,000 a year to the Wa-Hi Athletic Department to provide equipment and support to coaches and teams.

He spent a year of his time helping the district find solutions to its high school facilities needs by serving on the High School Facilities Task Force. This group laid the foundation for the district to build upon in addressing vast needs regarding high school facilities.

"Scott works hard for the school district and continually networks with community leaders to keep Walla Walla on the fast track to success," Carter said.
