New superintendent details plans for hiring new Walla Walla High School principal
New Superintendent Mick Miller made a trip to Walla Walla Thursday, June 10 to meet with Walla Walla High School staff to explain the process he will be using for the hiring of a new Walla Walla High School principal after current principal Darcy Weisner accepted an offer this week to become the Clarkston School District superintendent.

During a special staff meeting in the commons, Miller reported to staff he plans to open up the position to all interested candidates. Miller said he believes this open process will best serve the district, staff, students and parents.

Miller said he plans to have an extensive interview committee consisting of staff, parents, students, administrators and community members. He hopes to post the position soon and have the new principal named by August 1.

Miller, who has more than 20 years experience working in high school settings, thanked the staff for their service and said he values the important role they play in the district's educational setting. Staff were also given an opportunity to weigh in on what they are looking for in a new principal and asked to detail the school's strengths and cite areas in need of improvement.

Miller will be back in Walla Walla next week to continue working on this important hiring process and begin moving his family into their new home.
