Meyer named new Walla Walla High School Assistant Principal

Walla Walla Public Schools Board of Directors, during a special board meeting Friday, June 25, named Mindy Meyer a new assistant principal at Walla Walla High School. Meyer replaces Assistant Principal Matt Bona who earlier this spring accepted the open principal position at Sharpstein Elementary.

Meyer, a National Board Certified teacher, was an English teacher at Walla Walla High School from 1991 to 2005. She has served as the Project Director for the Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession (CSTP) for the past five years. While at CSTP, Meyer served seven school districts and two Education Service Districts working as the project director for the New Teacher Alliance to help districts create better support for their new teachers.

"I am really excited to be returning to Wa-Hi where I started my teaching career," Meyer said. "I look forward to working with the staff, administrative team, parents and community to build on Wa-Hi's success."

Meyer received her Administrative Credential from Washington State University in 2008 and completed her principal's internship assignments in Walla Walla at Sharpstein Elementary and Lincoln Alternative High School .

 Meyer completed her undergraduate studies at Walla Walla University in College Place with a major in English and minors in history and secondary education. She earned her Masters of Arts in English with a secondary education emphasis from Eastern Washington University. Meyer begins July 1.
